Spirit Starka Traditional

The spirit Starka Traditional is a traditional distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented rye mash. It is mainly produced in Poland and Lithuania and has a long history dating back at least to the 15th century. Starka is made from natural rye schnapps that undergoes up to two distillations without rectification. It is then aged in oak barrels, with small amounts of linden and apple tree leaves added. The production methods are similar to those used in making rye whisky. Starka is sold in various age categories, with the most notable difference being the length of aging, which can range from 3 to over 50 years. The natural color of the drink results from the interaction between the alcohol and the oak barrel, not from additives.
